The Vanderburgh County Medical Society is a non-profit association organized in 1845 to promote the art and science of medicine and the betterment of public health.
For over 160 years, the VCMS has been a friend and a voice for Vanderburgh County physicians. With over 500 local physician members, the VCMS is the only organization in the county dedicated solely to physicians’ interests. In 2001, the Board of Directors developed the following statements of our mission and purpose. These declarations reflect the true essence of the Vanderburgh County Medical Society, our service to you and to the community.
Our Mission:
We will act as an organization that promotes a variety of health and wellness initiatives, actively advocates the patient/physician relationship, and acts as a knowledgeable resource for our member physicians, thereby strengthening the image of the local medical community.
Our Purpose:
We are an alliance of physicians dedicated to the promotion of the art and science of medicine, the continual improvement of community health and wellness, and the advocacy for member physicians and the patient/physician relationship.
